Another approach, developed by John Gottman, observes the obstacles to healthy relationships – including criticism, contempt and defensiveness. Gottman’s approach will focus on the specific ways that couples are communicating ineffectively. This approach is solution-oriented, non-blameful, very effective and leads to quick changes.
